CUT IT OUT is a program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States. CUT IT OUT builds awareness of domestic abuse and trains salon professionals to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to local resources.

CUT IT OUT has been hailed from coast-to-coast as an innovative solution to a chronic and difficult problem: raising awareness on the epidemic of domestic abuse and helping victims receive the resources they need.

The Professional Beauty Association | National Cosmetology Association (PBA | NCA), as part of the CUT IT OUT 2010 Campaign, is asking you to join them in a united initiative to end domestic abuse in America.

All you have to do is send the CUT IT OUT pledge collateral as part of your daily marketing communications and/or as a stand alone email on October 4, 2010. Posting the CUT IT OUT pledge collateral on websites as well as on social networking sites is also encouraged.

The CUT IT OUT 2010 Campaign is that simple – sign the pledge, display the CUT IT OUT materials and help someone who may be suffering in silence.

To sign the pledge and receive materials to display in your salon, please visit www.CUTITOUT.org

Vidal Sassoon is regarded as the man who changed the world with a pair of scissors. This hairdressing pioneer rose to fame nearly 50 years ago with his geometric cuts. He is an inspiration for many and for the first time a new movie will provide a deep intimate look into his life.

Vidal Sassoon The Movie is a film and book project documenting the life of Vidal Sassoon – from his days in a London orphanage, to his time as an Israeli soldier, through his incredible career.

The film tells of Sassoon’s rise from an impoverished childhood as a Jewish boy in London, to fighting for Israel against the Arabs, to forging his career as a hairdresser, building his company and becoming a television star.

Vidal Sassoon The Movie, is produced by Michael Gordon, founder of the Bumble and Bumble hair salons. This film depicts the life of the 82 year old legend who quit school at age 14 and began to train as a hairdresser.

Today Vidal Sassoon is a global brand, but the legendary hairstylist feels that hairdressers still don’t get the respect they deserve. He says that some people still view hairdressing as “a craft for creeps and freaks.” It’s not recognized by enough people as a worthy craft.

Vidal Sassoon The Movie made its world premiere last week at Tribeca Film Festival. You can stay tuned for updates about the movie and related events by following Vidal Sassoon The Movie on Facebook.
