I was recently teaching a class at the Marvel Beauty School in London, Canada. It is Canada’s largest chain of hairstyling and esthetics schools with 22 campuses across the country.

I was so excited to be amongst so many cosmetology students. It was overwhelming to receive their positive response as you’ll find out in the video clip below.

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching at the Marvel Beauty School. Thanks to them for inviting me and thanks to the students for listening to me!

ScissorBoy with Daniel Galvin

Daniel Galvin is often referred to as the “King of Color” because he has been involved in every major innovation in hair coloring techniques and their application.

Daniel himself has built a reputation as one of the world’s leading authorities on hair colour. His work has a great influence on the industry as a whole, and he is in great demand for his expertise.

Daniel Galvin will be featured on ScissorBoy TV to bring two action packed and knowledge filled episodes to hairdressers everywhere. Daniel’s fans can catch him in action as the first episode airs on August 8, 2011 on ScissorBoy.com

Here are some amazing pieces of advice and thoughts which reflects how the King of Colour approaches his business and personal life.

Hair is the ultimate accessory that is never taken off so it’s essential it always looks at its best. Colour is about making what nature gave us better.

Colourists were seen as the underdog and I always wanted us to be recognised as much for the work we did as cutters.

My passion has always been to raise the level of respect for colourists from clients and colleagues.

I wanted to push the boundaries whenever I could and get my name and colour as much publicity as possible.

I have a fantastic team at my London salon and it’s important I offer them as many opportunities as I can so they can grow and develop as they are the future of the business.

I was the first hairdresser to receive an OBE in 2006 for services to hairdressing. It was a privilege to receive this honour and going to the palace was one of the most emotional days of my life.

You are as old as you feel – age isn’t important apart from when you are born and when you die. Age is irrelevant – you can do anything you set your mind to.

ScissorBoy TV produces an online TV and video education series designed for professional hairstylists, salon owners and cosmetology students.

To help professionals and students in continuing cosmetology education, ScissorBoy has collaborated with MyHairDressers.com which is an online educational resource, whose brand informs, inspires and connects at every level within the hairdressing industry.

The two videos show Stacey achieve two different looks on models Anita and Monica. While one look was very strong and graphic the other one was quite commercial and loose. Both the videos were filmed in the brand new fitted Salon area, designed and supplied by Salon Ambience.

Stacey summed up his thoughts of the shoot by saying, “I thought it was brilliant today. It was very fluid and easy compared to what we normally do on MyHairDressers.com.”

Grant (aka ScissorBoy) was excited about the shoot and said “I think it was a really good first collaboration with MyHairDressers.com. We worked together really well, things flowed brilliantly, so it was easy – a piece of cake!”
