Shear Genius Season 3 is down to just three stylists now as Jon was eliminated last night. Bravo’s reality show will now see Brig, Matthew and Janine fight for the ultimate prize.

Shear Genius Season 3 Episode 9 was entitled “Bring It on, Bitches”. In this episode all the competitors were required to style their first celebrity client which was none other than the host of the show – Camila Alves!

The judges had surprised everyone by not sending anyone home during Episode 8 of Shear Genius 3. However, Jon was sent off last night and the show lost its entertaining and sincere stylist. Matthew won the Short Cut challenge while Brig won the Elimination Challenge.

For the Elimination Challenge, legendary stylist Oribe joined as guest judge and offered the stylists some insight into creating a brand for themselves. Incidentally, Jon had spent five years working for Oribe where he styled countless runway shows and honed his craft.

Jon has regularly worked with celebrities like Bette Midler, Janet Jackson, LeAnn Rimes, Alan Jackson, Lisa Marie Presley and Poison. He has continuously harnessed his skills as a stylist at a myriad of notable institutions, including Bumble & Bumble in New York, Vidal Sassoon in Los Angeles and Jingles in London.

It was disappointing to see the elimination of Jon. He was always very entertaining and creative. Even during the Elimination Challenge, he took a bit risk by choosing a thin-haired model, and it paid off.

Bravo’s reality show will now see 3 stylists competing for the top prize. Who do you think will win Shear Genius Season 3? Tweet us your thoughts: @TheScissorBoy

Shear Genius Season 3 has already been exciting so far. The judges made Bravo’s reality show even more exciting this week by not sending anyone home this time around.

There are four stylists left now, Brig, Matthew, Janine and Jon. All of them were safe after Episode 8 of Shear Genius Season 3.

When these remaining stylists arrived in the salon, they learned that other competitors must select a tool, a style and an inspiration for them to use on their model. This was their task for the Shortcut Challenge, which was judged by celebrity stylist Mark Townsend.

For the Elimination Challenge, the stylists are charged with updating hairstyles from classic Hollywood movies for an editorial-style photo shoot. This challenge was judged by Allure’s Editor in Chief Linda Wells.

After judging everyone’s styles, Matthew was declared as the winner. The Judges said that Matthew was able to successfully modernize a very old-fashioned look, while keeping it just as sexy.

During Episode 8 of Shear Genius 3, Brig and Jon were the bottom two in the Elimination Challenge. Ideally, one of them had to be eliminated from the show. However, both of them managed to hold their places as no eliminations were made.

Shear Genius Season 3 saw the elimination of April Barton in Episode 6 yesterday. The competitors were required to create two different headshot looks on working actresses that showcased their client’s personality and versatility.

The guest judge on Episode 6 was Kevin Mancuso, Nexxus Creative Director. He along with Jonathan Antin and Kim Vo were closely judging the Shear Genius contestants on their cutting skills during the Short Cut Challenge. This challenge required interpreting geometric shapes into angular hairstyles and Janine emerged as the winner.

The Elimination Challenge required the stylists to create a look for an actress for her headshot. It was important to capture the emotion and role that the actress was going for. To make this task more challenging, judges sprung an additional challenge on the Shear Genius 3 contestants.

Once every team had finished with their models looks, they were supposed to change the actresses looks completely in 30 minutes for a second headshot. This was tricky but the winner would get a chance to be photographed for a Nexxus editorial for Allure Magazine. In the end, Brig won the elimination challenge and April was eliminated.

April is based in New York where she manages her salon – Suite 303, started in 1995. Her salon is committed to artistic expression and has earned the nickname “Edward Scissorhands.”

Last week Shear Genius 3 lost its youngest competitor when Amy Michleb was eliminated. After April’s elimination yesterday, Bravo’s reality show has only 6 contestants left who will make the show more interesting and challenging in the coming weeks.

Bravo’s creative hair-styling competition series Shear Genius saw the elimination of another stylist in Episode 5. Amy Michleb from Toronto, Canada was eased off as she could not impress the judges during the elimination challenge.

Amy is a young and dynamic stylist who is actively involved in the hair industry. She was the youngest stylist on Shear Genius season 3 which has gone international for the first time. Her elimination means that the competition is over for the youngest competitor.

The elimination challenge on Episode 5 of Shear Genius 3 was that the women will be styled in 1940’s hairstyles of finger waves and pin curls. The guest judge was Robert Vetica, a Hollywood hairstylist.

The stylists were given a challenge in which their models had husbands who were all currently serving in the military overseas. Their hair had to be given a 1940s style so that the women looked beautiful when they filmed messages to their men.

Amy, April and Janine found themselves among the bottom three as judges gave their verdict. Amy struggled because her hairstyle was turning 1930’s depression era. The judges came down on Amy, telling her that it wasn’t a style, it was a set, and that led to her elimination from Shear Genius season 3.

Amy’s husband – Woody Michleb, an award winning stylist himself was featured on ScissorBoy’s cosmetology program. In that episode, he demonstrated new hairstyling trends for Fall/Winter 2009.

After Amy’s elimination from Shear Genius 3, there are seven stylists who will now compete for the ultimate prize of $100,000 and prove they are the best of the bunch.
